Den lille by Tickle Cove har desperat brug for en permanent praktiserende læge - en betingelse for at sikre sig en lukrativ kontrakt, der vil give byen en ny fabrik og dermed masser af arbejdespladser. En af beboerne, Murray French (Brendan Gleeson), ser en mulighed, da han krydser veje med Dr. Paul Lewis (Taylor Kitsch). Murray skyr ingen midler og sætter hele byen i sving, for at skabe den perfekte illusion om at dette er drømmestedet for lægen. Don McKellar, der instruerede den fremragende Last Night (1998) og spillede med i The Red Violin, står bag kameraet på denne charmernede komedie.
